Some elements that I really enjoy about this book are the comparison discussions surrounding British versus American use of the English language, Horrible Words list, and political word choice/word usage in both British and American politics. I am a former secondary English teacher with both a BA & MA in English and Alternate Class A Certification at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. I am now a fulltime Academic Coach & Tutor with over 25 years experience as a writing tutor. I tutor the following subjects: English (6-12), History (6-12), Writing (6th-Post-Graduate School), AP Literature, AP Language, AP US History, AP World History, AP European History, AP US Gov, and AP Human Geography. For the past 4 years, I have taught, coached, and written curriculum for ACT Prep English and ACT Prep Reading. I have a keen interest in student growth as both effective readers and communicators.
While Early Modern and Middle English is my literary passion, I am also drawn to Drama and modern world literature. However, it is composition and rhetoric that holds my heart. If students claim language as their own, they create strong voices that allow them to both speak for themselves and others.
